The ECCB2024 Code of Conduct has been created to guarantee a safe and respectful environment to everyone and to have avenues to turn in case someone believes there has been a breach to the Code of Conduct.
Applicability
The ECCB2024 Code of Conduct is applicable not only to the conference itself but also during the event’s social activities and online forums associated with the event – such as the digital event platform.
By participating in the ECCB2024 conference, participants indicate their acceptance of the procedures by which the ECCB2024 Organising Committee resolves any Code of Conduct incidents.
Application of the Code of Conduct
The ECCB2024 Organising Committee is responsible for enforcing the Code of Conduct and visibly identified from the beginning of the conference.
Whether any person needs to report issues or incidents related to the Code of Conduct to the ECCB2024 Allies, there is a confidential way to do it:
By writing an email to a dedicated email address that is monitored actively: coc-eccb2024@utu.fi
The ECCB2024 Organising Committee will take appropriate actions. Any incident of inappropriate behaviour will be taken extremely seriously and will be responded promptly.
ECCB2024 values
An aim of the ECCB2024 is to provide a safe and respectful environment that allows everyone to feel respected and included, and receive equitable treatment.
The ECCB2024 Organising Committee works to offer and maintain an environment of safety, respect and inclusiveness, and equitable treatment of others. As a statement of principle, ECCB2024 rejects discrimination and harassment by any means, based on factors such as ethnic or national origin, race, religion, citizenship, language, political or other opinion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, pregnancy, age or socio-economic class.
Moreover, ECCB2024 opposes all forms of bullying including threatening, humiliating, coercive or intimidating conduct that causes harm to, interferes with or sabotages scientific activity and careers. Discrimination, harassment and bullying create a hostile environment that reduces the quality, integrity, and pace of the advancement of science by marginalising individuals and communities. It also damages productivity and career advancement, and prevents the healthy exchange of ideas.
The ECCB2024 Organising Committee is committed to supporting a productive and safe environment for all who are participating in the ECCB2024, both the main conference and all its social activities, maintaining an inclusive environment where people value diversity and foster dignity and respect to everyone.
